HEALTHCARE DSIGN LEADERSHIP CIC SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2024 HSJ PARTNERSHIP AWARDS
RECOGNISING THE MOST EFFECTIVE COLLABORATIONS WITH THE NHS

Healthcare Design Leadership (HDL) is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for Best Not for Profit Working in Partnership with the NHS at the HSJ Partnership Awards recognising an outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.
Now in its seventh year, 228 entries have been received for this year’s Partnership Awards, with 188 projects and individuals meriting inclusion on the final shortlist, the high volume – and exceptional quality – of applications once again mirrors the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed across the UK’s healthcare system.
Following the thorough judging process, HDL was shortlisted, ahead of the official awards ceremony to be held next year (21 March), with Healthcare Design Leadership standing out as a real ‘success story’ worthy of a prized place on the panel’s shortlist.
Healthcare Design Leadership, a not-for-profit community interest company (CIC) established by a group of leading experts across the fields of healthcare, academia and the built environment, with the aim to empower healthcare teams within the NHS with the skills, knowledge and tools to maximise the value and impact of their participation in capital development projects.
From a standing start in October 2022 HDL have trained in excess of 150 NHS colleagues from more than 10 NHS Trusts, surpassing our year one ambition and plan by a huge margin.
Healthcare Design Leadership boasts a truly multi-disciplinary faculty comprising clinicians, healthcare planners, architects, contractors and researchers. Contributors to the training programme include sector leading representatives from a variety of organisations, including MJ Medical, Llewelyn Davies, Professor Ashok Handa – Professor of Vascular Surgery and Director of Teaching in Surgery at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Plymouth Centre for Health Technology, David Powell, Development Director from Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Sir Robert McAlpine, WSP, Mott MacDonald, TClarke and PwC. Every individual and company involved in the delivery of training provides their time and experience for free. This partnership integrates the highest levels of expertise from the healthcare design and construction industry with the future of healthcare design and delivery being developed by academic institutions, researchers and clinicians.

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on March 21st 2024.
The 2023 awards judging panel was once again made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, including; Tosca Fairchild, Chief of Staff, South East London ICB, Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive, Mid and South Essex NHS FT, Shabina Azmi, Chief Pharmacist, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB, Professor Edward Kunonga, Director of Population Health Management, NENC ICB and NECS, as well as a range of esteemed healthcare leaders from across the UK.
